Laurel Avenue Church of Christ
"Love in Action"

VACATION BIBLE SUMMER STARTS JUNE 1ST!!!!!!

Thank you for visiting Laurel Avenue Church of Christ!
If you are looking for a loving church home, look no further!  Come visit us.  We would love to meet you.

An Announcment made on Sunday, May 22, 2016 by John McKee for the Elders

The elders want to give everybody an update on the status of hiring an Associate Minister with emphasis on Youth and Family.

As you remember, we got to meet Nathan Thomas and his family last week and Nathan got to teach the teen class and preach the morning sermon.  From that, we received a lot of positive feedback from the congregation as a whole and from the teens and their parents as well.  Also, the elders, Charles, and their families, were very favorably impressed with Nathan, his wife, Laura, and their kids during their stay with us.

In summary:  We realy like Nathan and his family.

In our search, we received quite a few resumes from other applicants and did phone and online calls with some of them.  We also had invited two others to come for a tryout, but one cancelled (because he took another job) and the other couldn’t come in a timely manner.

After comparing them all, and after a lot of thought and prayer, we came to believe that Nathan was the best fit for us.  His experience, education and qualifications are well-suited for this new position at Laurel Avenue. Also there was a strong feeling that we ought to move quickly since it looks like Nathan won’t

stay unemployed for long.

So, based on all of that AND the feedback we received, we have offered Nathan the job and are currently in the process of negotiating a compensation package with him.  We hope to have this competed soon.

We want to thank you for your prayerful consideration and support of this effort and want to encourage everyone to see if they can give a little bit more help with Nathan’s ongoing salary.

In the 30 years Peggy and I have been here, we have been impressed with the generous spirit of the members of Laurel Avenue.   You all have demonstrated your love in so many ways with your prayers, words of encouragement, and financial support for many efforts.  Here’s another opportunity

We ask for your prayers for Nathan Thomas and his family that this will be a blessing for them as well as for us over the next few weeks, months, and years.  Because of the interest in adding an Associate Minister with emphasis on youth and family, we have already seen an uptick in the teen class attendance.  We are excited about the growth potential in their ministry and for growth for all of us at Laurel Avenue.
